There's good beer in this Guide!
In mid-July a border skirmish (aka joint social) took place between Keighley & Craven and Bradford CAMRA branches.
Minibus-loads from each branch ascended upon the Guide Inn, on a hilltop little more than a mile from Keighley but several inches outside official K&C branch territory. Some of us have long questioned Bradford's stewardship of this pub, particularly at times when - as now - it's been run by someone keen on real ale. On this occasion, one of the two handpumps dispensed Old Spot It's Gold all evening, while the other started with Naylor's Pinnacle Bitter but later changed to the same brewery's Magnum. Many pints were quaffed, but as no-one seems to have kept a proper count of either pints or people the outcome of this Battle of the Branches must be regarded as inconclusive.
'ATTEN-SHUN!!' As even more non-minibussed Keighley and Craven members march into the car park, just one Bradford member has the decency to salute.
Keighley and Craven CAMRA's chairman tells a Bradford member it's about time she switched sides. Or else.
A certain Bradford member, and a possibly less certain editor of that branch's magazine, discuss matters which we didn't even try to eavesdrop upon. (Much.)
FURTING LURKIVELY? Bradford's recently retired chairman seems unsure whether he's still welcome.
A pub and a position well worth a little
inter-branch argy-bargy?
Scurrilous words and scandalous photos by Bar Humbug. The Guide is on the edge of Harden Moor, at the junction of roads from Keighley, Harden, Cullingworth and Cross Roads, and a pleasant rural walk from Bingley or the St. Ives estate.
