TASTING PANEL TRAINING, TUESDAY AUGUST 16th

8.00 – 10.00 p.m. at the Brown Cow, Keighley

Our tasting panel needs some more members – could you help? All you would need to do is come to the training session. Then, when you are out and about drinking beers from our local breweries, occasionally fill in a card recording your impressions of the beer. You don‘t have to come to panel meetings or even branch meetings.

CAMRA tasting panels have two roles: writing beer descriptions for the Good Beer Guide and nominating beers for area competitions, from which the winners go forward to Champion Beer of Britain / Champion Winter Beer of Britain. Being on the tasting panel is a good way of supporting our local breweries.

The training will cover the CAMRA beer styles; typical characteristics of beers (including common faults) and how to fill in the tasting cards. We‘ll practice completing cards for the range of beers on sale in the pub, so a charge will be made to cover the cost of the beer – probably about £5.

Places are limited so, if you would like to come along, contact Tamsin Candeland to book a place. Preferably email her (tasting@keighleyandcravencamra.org.uk) or phone 01535 606179 and leave a message giving your name and a contact number. If you have been trained previously but would like a refresher or want to get involved with the panel again, you will be welcome too!

Note: Please avoid strongly flavoured food and drinking beer before the session as you will need to have a fresh palate.
