What is CAMRA?
CAMRA is a national consumer organisation whose main aim is to promote cask conditioned beer aka 'real ale' and to preseve the place where it is drunk, the British public house. For more information on CAMRA's aims visit the CAMRA national web-site.
..and the Keighley and Craven bit?
Keighley and Craven CAMRA are the local branch of CAMRA in the area covering the towns of Haworth, Keighley, Skipton, Settle and Grassington, which spans the boundary between the current English counties of West Yorkshire and North Yorkshire. It includes the Worth Valley, famous for its steam railway and the Bronte sisters, and a large part of the southern Yorkshire Dales, with its spectacular limestone scenery. What do we do?
We organise events and campaigns locally to further the aims of our parent organisation organisation. For more details check out the Campaigning and Events pages on this web-site. We also nominate pubs for national CAMRA publications, such as the annual Good Beer Guide, produce our own local guides and a quarterly newsletter.
Who are we?
We are all ordinary people who enjoy a pint or two of real ale in convivial surroundings and have joined CAMRA to make sure we can continue to do so. There are over 300 CAMRA members in the Keighley and Craven area, of whom about a fifth take some part in branch activities. We think we are a socialble bunch, so if you like real ale, why not join us!
