Bottled beers are available at the pub in 330ml or 568ml(imperial pint) bottles as well as gift packs containing the complete range in 275ml bottles. Old Bear

Old Bear BreweryOld Bear Brewery,
Pitt Street,
Keighley

The Old Bear Brewery moved to Pitt Street, Keighley from The Old White Bear, Cross Hills in January 2005.   The 'No Codswallop' image on their Point of Sale material highlights Ian Cowling the owner/head brewers fierce pride of Yorkshire and particularly Keighley.  The regular beers from the 10 barrel plant are regularly supplemented by seasonal and specials which can be produced on their one barrel plant.  During 2006 the brewery has also produced Bottle Conditioned Ales which are accredited by the CAMRA Real Ale in a Bottle  scheme.

Oxenhope Moorland (ceased brewing 16 Sep 04)

Brewer Andy Gascoigne from the Oxenhope Moorland Brewery at the Waggon & Horses reckons that, at 1405 feet above sea level, his brewery is the highest in Britain (any comments?). Anticipated regular beers are Oxenhope Best Bitter (3.6%), Moortop Gold (4.5%) and Old Tosser (5%), in Winter only. Some mixes of beers have also been seen. A "Thirsty Blonde" at 3.6% was found to be a nice pale bitter. "English Chopper" was found at the KWVLR Diesel Gala in August. Andy intends to supply the pub and KWVLR regularly. He has a 90 gallon plant and was trained by McGuinness of Rochdale. Brewing water (known as "liquor") comes from a spring at the back of the pub and requires no extra treatment. He obtains yeast from Timothy Taylor.(3/8/03)

Special brews: Timothy Taylor do not generally brew seasonal or special beers. However, Spring 2002 saw the launch of a special cask ale to celebrate the 300th Anniversary Duke of Wellington's Regiment. Called 'Havercake Ale', the 4.7% beer was available in pubs in the area in which the regiment formerly recruited i.e. in the West Riding of Yorkshire between Sheffield and Settle. The company celebrates its 150th year in 2008 with further brews of Havercake, and also a limited edition 5% brew "Celebration ale" - a rich, sweet, full bodied malty ale which has impressed many. The cask version is no longer available, but the bottled version (as well as Landlord and Havercake) is still readily available from selected Taylor pubs.
